As the leadership team at HSAC, we strive to serve our congregation and guests with the same grace and love we have received from Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Our mission is to make current and potential members feel welcomed into our loving community, ultimately inviting all into a journey with an extraordinary God.
Our current rector, the Reverend Frank Busbey, brings a variety of experiences to his ministry. Father Frank is an ordained priest, a licensed professional counselor, husband to Diane, father, grandfather, and “dog-parent.” He has advanced degrees in religion and professional counseling. Father Frank loves Christ, his family, and people. He feels the most alive when preaching the Word of God or sitting one-on-one with a person who is openly sharing their struggles. For relaxation, he spends time with his wife, Diane (and the 3 grandchildren they are raising), reads, takes pictures, attempts to play one of several instruments (he has yet to master), or walks his dogs.
Father Frank’s journey of faith has taken him from Roman Catholicism to Pentecostalism to Evangelicalism. In the Anglican expression of Christianity, he finds these three strands woven in a beautify tapestry by the Holy Spirit. The passion of his heart is to clearly proclaim the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ and help other broken people find help in Christ.
Katherine (Kay) Parker was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended the neighborhood public school. While attending Junior High School, Kay met her future husband. They married a couple of years later, while she was still in High School. Together, the two had two daughter,s who are now married with children. In 1972, Kay and her husband moved to Mobile. While her children were still young, Kay enjoyed earning extra money for her family by dressmaking and typing. Eventually, she took a job as a typist and worked her way to a position of office manager.
In 1980, Kay was employed by the University of South Alabama as a secretary, where she attended courses in the evening and earned a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Communications. In 1992, Kay completed a Master’s of Science in Counseling and was soon promoted to Academic Advisor at the College of Nursing. Later, she became the Director of Academic Advising for the College of Arts and Sciences, retiring in 2005.
In 2004, Kay became the Church Administrator at HSAC and continued in that position until 2019. During the first five years of its existence, the church office was located in a room in Kay’s home. In the spring of 2014, Kay sought acceptance by the Anglican Church in North America for ordination to the Deaconate, beginning a four-year journey to fulfill the educational and spiritual requirements for ordination. On the evening of May 31, 2018, she was ordained a Deacon by the Right Reverend, Neil Lehbar. Kay now serves as Deacon at HSAC.
